The Marshalltown boys’ tennis team made quick work of a Des Moines opponent for the second time in three days, dispatching Hoover 9-0 in an Iowa Alliance Conference dual meet reduced to nine matches due to the Huskies’ low numbers.

Des Moines Hoover (0-4) brought just 10 competitors for Thursday’s match and have only 11 listed on their roster. Only one is a senior and two are juniors.

Marshalltown’s deep and rather experienced roster hounded the Huskies to straight-set shutouts in all nine contests.

Isaac Benscoter, Adam Boone, Caleb Rasmussen, Kyle Smith, Will Swartz and Aaron Hunter each earned singles victories for Marshalltown. In doubles play, Tayven Dutton and Isaac Seberger prevailed at No. 1, Lucas Bantz and Jacob Christen cruised at No. 2, and Elliot Kodis and Evan Roush rolled at No. 3.

In two more doubles bouts considered to be exhibition, Izaiah Wilder and Gavin Staker paired up for a victory, as did Ronin Ham and Miles Griego.

The Bobcats’ three-match week concludes with Friday’s 9:30 a.m. showdown at home against Cedar Rapids Jefferson (1-0). The J-Hawks will travel to face Ankeny this afternoon following their dual meet with Marshalltown.
