Bulldogs can’t hang with MHS girls, 9-2

The Marshalltown girls’ tennis team improved to 7-0 this season with a 9-2 beatdown of the Ottumwa Bulldogs on Tuesday evening at the Marshalltown Court Complex.

The Bobcats remained unbeaten with all but one of their match wins coming as straight-set victories at the Marshalltown Court Complex.

Kennedy Feldman and Kate Sandvick both improved to 5-2 in singles play this season. Feldman topped Nellie Morgan 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1, and Sandvick won 6-2, 6-3, over Jordan Lee at No. 2.

Kate Hauser and Lily Zahnd both remained unbeaten in singles play this season; Hauser won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 and Zahnd scored a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 4.

Ellie Downs earned a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6, while Reese Jensen suffered a grueling defeat at No. 5, falling 7-6 (10-8), 6-7 (5-7), (10-8) to Madalynn Sertterh.

Sandvick and Hauser won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles, while Jensen and Downs rallied 4-6, 6-3, (10-8) at No. 3. Ellie Hughes and Rachel Jones triumphed 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4 doubles, and Karsyn Price paired with Bella Avise for a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5.
