HUMBOLDT — Lilyia Christen’s goal in the 38th minute provided the only score as the Marshalltown girls’ soccer team defeated Humboldt on Friday night.

The Bobcats improved to 6-3 with the win — their first one-goal victory.

Sophie Valdez Chavez made four saves in her 72 minutes as Marshalltown’s goalkeeper, and Karolina Cross was not called upon in her eight minutes in net.

The Bobcats outshot the host Wildcats (3-4-1) by a 22-9 margin in the match, sending 13 shots on goal.
