SPORTS SHORTS: BCLUW boys bring home the hardware

CONRAD — The BCLUW boys’ golf team hoarded all the hardware at Thursday’s Iowa Star Conference triangular at Oakwood Golf Course, beating Baxter and North Tama in league play.

The Comets shot a 164 team score to defeat North Tama (188) and Baxter (189). BCLUW also had the top two finishers in medalist Adam Frank and Nate Bishop.

Frank shot a 3-over-par 38 and Bishop finished second on a cardback with his round of 40. The Comets added two more of the day’s six best scores with Beau Towne (42) and Zaden Eggers (44) rounding out their team effort.

Maddox Rausch led North Tama with his 42, and Levi Harmsen was next up with his 45. Cayd Cooper (48) and Michael Harmsen (53) also contributed for the Redhawks.

Charlie Maher paced Baxter with a 40.

Comet girls cruise in conference triangular

UNION — The BCLUW girls’ golf team logged five of the best six scores of the day to win an Iowa Star Conference triangular on Monday at Union Hills Golf Course.

The Comets shot a 194 to distance themselves from North Tama (210) and Baxter (232) in the conference meet.

BCLUW’s Leah McEwen earned medalist honors with a 45, and Ainsley Geelhart was the runner-up in a cardback with her 49. Marissa Schnathorst, Gracie Andrews and Delaney Legg all shot 50 to account for the Comets’ scoring.

Kylie Catherwood and Kensington Pick both shot 51 to lead North Tama. Briar Blake added a 53, and both Danika Wrage and Jessica Morrison shot 55 to round out the Redhawks’ efforts.

Karlee Koehler led Baxter with a 49.

Mustangs take NICL triangular at Fox Ridge

DIKE — The East Marshall boys’ golf team held off host Dike-New Hartford and Jesup in an NICL triangular on Thursday, posting four of the best five scores of the day.

The Mustangs shot a 165 to defeat the Wolverines (174) and J-Hawks (201) in conference play.

Cody Weaver took runner-up medalist honors to lead East Marshall with his 37, trailing only Carson Costello of D-NH (35).

Jackson Bidwell (42), Rylan Weaver (43) and Wyatt Stalzer (43) helped bring home the team win for East Marshall.

Area teams chase leaders at Comet Co-Ed

CONRAD — BCLUW golf finished third out of six teams at its annual Comet Co-Ed on Tuesday at Oakwood Golf Course.

Roland-Story (174) and Jesup (181) led the field, followed by area teams BCLUW (182), East Marshall (186), West Marshall (188) and GMG (262).

Brooke Thompson and Jake Knoll of Roland-Story earned medalist honors with a 3-over-par 38. Delaney Legg and Zaden Eggers shot 40 for BCLUW to take the silver.

Rylan Weaver and Clara Course led East Marshall with a 42 for fourth place, and Cody Weaver and Delaney Ryan added a 44 to take sixth for the Mustangs.

Hunter Polley and Natalie Nichols led West Marshall with a 45, finishing seventh, while Carter Pfantz and Riley Randall shot 46 for the Trojans to take ninth.

GMG got matching rounds of 58 from Jacob Beaderstadt and Olivia Maddux, and Jordan Rhodes and Violet Jackson.
